Online Privacy Policy

 

Discovery Islands Chamber of Commerce is committed to maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of your personal information.  We have appointed a Privacy Officer who is accountable for the compliance of the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the compliance of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). 

 

By visiting this website, your personal information is obtained and stored for demographic analysis and statistical purposes.  If you do not wish to have your personal information used in such a manner, you must send us a blank email at admin@dicc.ca and in the subject line: “Do not use my personal information.” 

 

When you send us an email, your personal information is also collected and will be used to send you promotional material, as well as for demographic analysis and statistical purposes.  Personal information that is collected could include:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email address

 

If you do not wish to receive promotional material via email, please send us a blank email at admin@dicc.ca with a note in the subject line: “Do not send promotional material.”  On the other hand, you also may send a self-addressed signed letter to the Privacy Officer, Discovery Islands Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 790, Quathiaski Cove, BC, V0P 1N0 stating “Do not send me promotional material.” 

 

Electronic member files are kept in a highly secured environment with restricted access.  Paper-based files are stored in filing cabinets behind locked doors and access is restricted. As a condition of their employment, all employees of Discovery Islands Chamber of Commerce are required to abide by the privacy standards we have established.  Council members and employees are informed about the importance of privacy, and they are required to agree to a code of conduct that prohibits the disclosure of any member information to unauthorized individuals or parties.  Council members and employees are expected to always maintain the confidentiality of member information and failing to do so will result in appropriate disciplinary action, which may include dismissal.

 

You may access and verify any of your information by emailing admin@dicc.ca. To help us keep your personal information up to date, we encourage you to amend inaccuracies and make corrections as often as necessary.  Despite our efforts, errors sometimes do occur.  Should you identify any incorrect or out-of-date information, we will make the proper changes.
