DICC 2026 AGM – President’s Report
- 2025/2026 was a year of meaningful progress, collaboration, and forward momentum for the Discovery Islands Chamber of Commerce, with a strong focus on Quadra Island.
- Commitment to Sustainable Tourism Under the leadership of Carol Perry, the Chamber reaffirmed its commitment to community-led, sustainable tourism following the provincial Resident Perceptions Report, confirming strong local support.
- Provincial Funding Secured provincial funding to launch the Economic Diversification and Sustainable Tourism Project, a major step toward a resilient, year-round economy for Quadra Island.
- Civic Engagement Under the leadership of Sarah Bradshaw, the Chamber hosted the Federal All-Candidates Forum, welcoming nearly 180 community members to the Quadra Island Community Centre.
- Visitor Services Enhancement Opened a refreshed Visitor Information Space at the Quadra Island Coastal Community Credit Union, improving access to information for visitors and newcomers.
- Economic Diversification Planning & Engagement Led a comprehensive Economic Diversification planning process in collaboration with the We Wai Kai Nation that included a June 3 sector consultation, October 4 community workshop, island-wide survey, and interviews with key knowledge holders. Community input ensured future opportunities reflect environmental stewardship, local values, and cultural heritage. Hosted a January 3 community presentation to release the final Economic Diversification Plan, available at www.quadraedp.ca.
- Community Events & Recognition Hosted the Hole-in-One event at the Legends Memorial Golf Tournament, honouring individuals from Quadra Island’s past and celebrating community legacy.
- Truth and Reconciliation Introduced the Chamber’s Truth and Reconciliation program through Four Seasons of Reconciliation. Under the leadership of Sarah Wolf, two Debrief Sessions were hosted, with many residents inspired and trained.
- Sustainable Tourism Planning Began work on a Sustainable Tourism Plan, with the first workshop held on March 14.
- Business Training & Capacity Building This fall, the Chamber in partnership with the Quadra Island Foundation will deliver free training programs. Two needs surveys will identify priority topics to ensure programs meet member needs.
